Lesson 3 (Photos & Images): Exploring Flickr. Have set up a Flickr account; via Yahoo. See www.flickr.com. Also part of this lesson is "discover some Flickr mashups and 3rd party sites".

According to wikipedia: "...MASHUP is a web application that combines data from more than one source into a single integrated tool".

And "MAPPR was built to explore the idea of a collaborative mapped photo space, without having to wait for cameras to come with automatic GPS locators in them. The project is open to Flickr users, has mapped over a million photos, and continues to query Flickr’s collection of photos on a daily basis." according to http://stamen.com/projects/mappr. Looking at the STAMEN site you'll notice that they have several other projects as well, although as of 2007 they are no longer processing Flickr photos.

Another program allows you to search Flickr for a specific color: http://www.krazydad.com/colrpickr/

And yet another creates a photo mosaic of Flickr photos: http://www.deviousgelatin.com/montager/image.php
